Get ready for a patriotic celebration like no other! Disney, the iconic entertainment giant, has stepped up to commemorate America's 250th anniversary in a truly special way. But here's where it gets controversial... some might argue that Disney's involvement in such a national event is a bold move.
In the 2026 Tournament of Roses, Disney took center stage with a procession led by none other than Mickey and Minnie themselves. Accompanying them were over 50 veterans, now proudly serving as Disney Cast Members, along with their families.
The Disneyland vehicle, adorned with a vibrant bouquet of red, white, and blue flowers, was a sight to behold. Each flower held a deeper meaning for military veterans, with red poppies symbolizing remembrance for fallen soldiers, a tradition dating back to World War I. Other flowers included rosemaries, blue irises, white lilies, and chrysanthemums, all representing love, honor, and appreciation for veterans across the nation.
Cast Members also carried a banner that read, "Disney Celebrates America," a powerful statement that echoed the spirit of the event.
CEO Bob Iger emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, "Both Disney and the Tournament of Roses Parade have long celebrated America's spirit and the people who embody it. By featuring our veteran Cast Members, we're thrilled to kick off the year at this iconic event and share the Disney magic that unites generations."
Disney's celebration of America's 250th anniversary doesn't stop there. Both Disney World and Disneyland have an array of exciting offerings planned for 2026, including the highly anticipated Soarin' Across America, with opening dates already announced for EPCOT and California Adventure.
