On June 9th, 2026, I embarked on a 3-day backpacking adventure along the Blue Ridge Parkway, eager to explore the trail and its hidden gems. My journey began with a quick slack-pack to connect a short section of the trail, and I was soon joined by a few friends. We set off together, searching for a secluded spot to camp, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the days ahead.

One of the most interesting aspects of my hike was the opportunity to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway. I met a hiker named Diver, who had taken the opportunity to do a road walk along the parkway. He recommended it to me, and I was intrigued by the idea of experiencing the parkway in a different way. I decided to consider doing the road walk, perhaps when I was heading back north.
As I continued on, I couldn't help but notice the friendly creatures along the way. I met a Spinone Italiano named Markus, who was as happy as ever, and a Back In Business, who was being a good sherpa as always. It was a moment of connection, a chance to appreciate the kindness and camaraderie of fellow hikers.
One of the most memorable moments of my hike was reaching Jennings Creek. I was excited to meet Crash and Lost and Found again, and we shared a moment of joy and camaraderie. I even discovered a few tenting spots just up the trail, and I thought about ending my hike there. However, I knew that I needed to do the 3 extra miles to Cove Mountain.
As I made my way to Cove Mountain, I couldn't help but notice the beauty of the environment. The 1,000-foot climb with the extra weight was difficult at the start, but the trail tapered off into a steady climb. Suddenly, I felt stronger than I had all day, and I cruised along until I came to an isolated tent site about two tenths of a mile from the shelter. It was a moment of solitude and reflection, a chance to appreciate the beauty of nature and the challenges of the trail.
